Description | The second visit of the Pope to Venezuela took place on february 9-11, 1996.
On the stamps: John Paul II showing his solidarity to ten different groups in human society. These groups are: the families (on Bs.25), the elderly (25), the poor (40), the sick(40), the prisoners(60), the workers(60), the higher educated(100), the priests and religious(100).
In the margins of the sheet: quotes from the Pope, referring to the group, which is depicted on the connected stamp. Each stamp also shows an image of a Venezuelan statue of Mary. These statues of the Holy Virgin can also be seen on a series of stamps issued in 1985.
